A Painful Reunion

I stood frozen in the middle of the road, still trying to digest what that woman whispered into my ear, clenching the envelop in my pocket. Unknown of where to go, I just needed to find a place to hide as soon as possible. According to her words I need to run!!. I got out from hell and now in a much bigger problem. “I wish today never happened”, I muttered to myself.Again still trying to understand what was said to me a while ago,“Run as far as possible as you can, or else you wouldn’t live to see tomorrow. When you feel safe open the letter, do not let anyone see or find you, that’s the best I can do……heiress”.Immediately I turned to leave, I heard the sound of speeding vehicles racing to my direction. The Grey estate is mostly quiet, apart from my so called family going out or when there's a function at home. I don’t know what’s happening, but I musn’t be seen by anyone. So I turned to run but where should I run to.I turned to look at the mansion one last time and I could see Yevone watching me, our eyes met and she left with a smirk, then there came Mrs Morris, she frowned and gave a hand gesture to run toward the woods.I ran and ran deep inside the woods, I paused to rest.“I think I’m deep enough, just need to find shelter”, I almost said aloud.My stomach growled and I know I needed to eat, but how will I survive and the sun isn't helping either. “Hey is that a girl, she looks frail and worn”, I heard a woman’s voice behind me. I got so scared I turn to run but my legs were asleep, I got so scared and screamed not to touch me.“Don’t be scared, wait don’t leave”, she yelled and walked towards my direction, but I was to weak to react, do or say anything, with that I passed out. “Ohh dear, you’re awake, don’t get up just rest in”,the woman said while I was still trying to remember what happened and my head hurts. “The sun is already setting, so does that mean I’m in a safe place”, I asked myself happily.“Hello I’m Allisson, this my son Jerry and daughter Riley and my husband Charles”, Miss Allisson introduced all members of her little family with a smile.“Hello”, Jerry and Riley said in a sync, they're so cute and I guessed they were twins.“Hello, I’m Wendy”, I uttered nervously.“Help her out of bed so she can have something to eat”, Charles ordered.Dinner was served, and it was so quite. I was lost in my thoughts when Charles interrupted me.“Hey Wendy, how come you were all alone wandering in the woods, he asked.Everyone turned to hear my answers but then a woman barged in“Allisson, Allisson, Allisson…..she ran towards the little house.“There’s a search party looking for the girl you took in”, she uttered while catching her breath.“ If you want her to live, better keep her safe, she said and ran out.Who are you?!” Charles turned to me with an angry expression.I thought to myself, I guess I was really fated to die, so I might as well say the truth.“Answer me!!”, he yelled at me.“Charles you’re scaring her”,Allisson yelled back at her husband.Seeing the situation, I can’t let them have a misunderstanding or rift because of an unknown girl.“I’m Wendy…….Wendy Grey…….”,I stuttered. They all turned towards my direction, I clenched my clothes in my fist and continued.I was hidden for years and kicked out by my so called family this morning, I..am Derek Grey’s daughter, I’m sorry I don’t know my mum’s name, I paused. “I’ll lesve immediately…..Allisson covered my mouth before I could continue.She hugged me tight, and I could feel her tears on my shoulder. I was confused because Charles was also looking at me with a teary eye.“Is anyone home”, a loud voice yelled from outside.“Jerry, quick take Wendy to the other room and hide her properly, Riley hide all Wendy’s belongings and remove her plates from the table, hide them properly”, Allisson ordered.Before I could react, Jerry took my hands and walked towards the room.“We are here, Wendy I know you have lots of questions, but stay here mum and dad will keep you safe, do not make a sound”, Jerry said as he turned to leave. Couldn’t believe I’m receiving orders from a kid, I was a bit shocked and moved too.The room looked more like a secret room, it was dark so I couldn’t really tell, and my hand was being held.I could here the commotion outside.“Where is the girl”, a man’s hoarse voice interrogated.“Sir we are just a family of four”, Allisson answered.
